It’s too easy to begin this post with “New year, new me”, but for some reason that ques Bo Burnham’s White Woman’s Instagram to play in my head…
Cliches aside, it is a new year which means new goals for both myself and my business. I’m going to share my main goals, professionally speaking, with you in this post. Not only do I like including y’all in on what’s going on with my business and what direction it’s heading, but it also helps hold me accountable. I can’t be talking about #goals and not doing anything to achieve them, right?
Before we jump to my business goals, I want to share my word for this year. Last year was the first time I did the exercise of picking one word to focus on throughout the year to keep me grounded and on track, no matter what was going on around me. That word was “hope”. This year, my word is time.
“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1 emphasis added).
The tasks on my to-do lists will get finished in the time they are meant to.
I will not rush time, instead fully living in the present.
I truly believe the Spirit put this word on my heart and it felt like such a natural transition, from hope to time. It makes me excited for the pace in which I will do life throughout the year. God doesn’t want us to be in a constant state of rush and busy. We were created to rest and be intentional. I’m going to apply this in every aspect of my life this year.
As for business goals, here is what I’m going to focus on this year:
To sum everything up, I’m going to keep learning, work smarter not harder, and have some fun with my side hustle. Side note, it feels funny to say I have a side hustle because I used to tell people that photography was my side hustle. Now it’s my main hustle and I have another creative side gig. Maybe one day I’ll become a full time Etsy mom and photography will become a side hustle again. *shrugs* I go where the Spirit guides me.
In all seriousness, I don’t see myself leaving the photography industry for a long time. It’s become another home for me and I’m pumped to watch my business continue to grow and receive the blessings in store for it in 2022.
P.S. To everyone who has and will book – You are one of those blessings and I’m very grateful for each of you.
