Goooood Morning, friends! Happy Monday, I hope everyone had a fab fall weekend. The weather here in SC is finally starting to stay a steady fall temperature and it is AMAZING. I’m a southern gal, but the heat is not for me.
Here we are in Part II of the Hey There series and I’ve been excited about writing this post because it’s an especially fun one. If you missed out on Part I of the series, (feel free to check it out here) I talked about the first of my three About Me highlights – SC Based Photographer + Entrepreneur. I pulled back the curtain on where I started as a photographer and where I may be taking my entrepreneurship in the future.
Today I’ll be talking about highlight number two – Believer of the Pineapple + Pizza Combo. An apparent topic of hot debates amongst the millennial generation. Without further ado, let’s dive in!

First I want to address to the elephant in the room and acknowledge that, yes, there is a relatively large debate on whether pineapple belongs on pizza or not. Obviously I’m for the former. I don’t see why some people are so against it, especially without trying it. If you have grown up in the south, surely at some point around the holidays you have had roasted turkey or ham with pineapple. It’s a delicious balance of sweet, salty, and tangy that is mimicked when paired with pizza. All and all I say to each their own, but don’t knock it if you haven’t tried it!
I’ve always liked pizza (there was this weird phase I went through as a kid where I didn’t want pizza sauce on my pizza – Cheese and crust only), but the pineapple addition didn’t come until later. My dad LOVES to cook, but on late nights we would order pizza and my step-mom would get a Hawaiian style which had pineapple and ham toppings. This is when I first tried it and became hooked! A few years ago I stopped eating beef and pork in favor of picking up a cleaner diet, so now I sub the ham for chicken or turkey and it is the best.
If you’re wondering why I would consider this tis bit important enough to make a highlight about me, if you’re wondering why pizza? Well, why not pizza? It’s our go to for a quick meal on late nights, when we’re low on groceries, when we don’t feel like cooking, and sometimes, it’s just a pizza kind of night. You get me? I also think it’s fun to include at least one of your personal tastes on your About Me page. People know the facts – I’m an SC photographer, specializing in elopements, but that doesn’t tell them anything about me.
I actually was going to make this highlight about my love for coffee, something like Coffee Connoisseur or Espresso Aficionado. I still claim both of these labels because ya girl seriously digs caffeine, especially in the form of a nice hot cuppa Joe. That being said, coffee also seems to be pretty trendy these days as I’ve noticed a few other entrepreneur’s sites highlighting their love of coffee in their About Me and I wanted to be different. What’s something I love (almost) as much as I love coffee? You got it. Pizza.
Maybe I’ve talked you into giving pineapple pizza a try or maybe you’re speed reading through this so you can exit out as fast as you can. Either way, I hope we’re still friends and you had as much fun reading this as I did writing it!
As a tribute to my fellow pineapple pizza fans, and for those of you who are curious to try – I’m leaving you with a little download that tells you my favorite place for a quick pizza, a splurge pizza, and of course a DIY pizza for when I’m feeling extra pizza-y. Download it below and snap a pic of your next pineapple pizza and tag me in it on your Insta stories. We can toast a slice together.
Cheers!
